Winter at the Cabin

Cabin Communications winter card

Cabin Communications is a PR and marketing firm based out of Washington Crossing, PA. In the spirit of practicing what they preach, the folks at Cabin Communications send out four seasonal cards per year to their clients. It’s a great way to keep in touch and helps keep them top of mind with their clients. I am fortunate enough to be this year’s illustrator/designer. Here is the first of four—the winter greeting. The design direction was to capture winter without hitting on a specific holiday. In addition, it was important to integrate the logo into the scene (as opposed to having an illustration with the logo plopped on top). I think the results came out well and I’m looking forward to completing the remaining three cards.

Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland

Rarely do I see a classic story reworked so well. The cover of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland & Other Stories released by Barnes & Noble Inc in 2010 is a gorgeous example of classic made contemporary. The pink, black and gold cover make this hefty volume one for the coffee table, not the book shelf. The hand lettered typography complements the illustrations beautifully. The cover was illustrated by Hugh D’Andrade and designed by Jo Obarowski with the interior illustrations by the original Alice’s illustrator, John Tenniel. Gold ink brushes the page edges giving the whole book that little extra something. Do check it out when you get the chance, if only for the darling Alice on the cover and clever Mad Hatter on the back.
